Athens-Style Honey Garlic Sausage Pita
Sausages are amazingly versatile and work in all kinds of dishes. We tried them in a pita, and the results speak for themselves. Our garlic & honey sausages are the perfect choice for this recipe, with sweet and savoury flavours that harmonize with tangy tzatziki and rich feta. Consider pairing with a side of lemon potatoes and a chilled glass of Greek wine for a complete Mediterranean meal.
1 pkg Schneiders® Savoury Garlic & Honey Sausages, grilled per package instructions
4 pitas
1 cup cucumber, diced
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
¼ cup red onion, thinly sliced
2 cups shredded lettuce
2 tablespoons olive oil
¼ cup Italian parsley, roughly chopped
½ cup crumbled feta cheese
1 cup tzatziki
Preheat oven to 350 F.
On a baking sheet, brush the tops of the pitas lightly with olive oil. Bake in the oven until crisp, about 12 minutes. Reserve.
In a medium bowl, combine cucumber, tomatoes, onion, parsley, and olive oil. Season with salt and pepper and reserve.
Grill sausage per package instructions then slice into half-inch pieces.
To assemble:
Divide lettuce between the pitas. Add the sausages, then the tomato/cucumber mixture.
Drizzle with a tzatziki as desired, and top with crumbled feta.
