Caramelized Maple Bacon
Life could always use more bacon. Here’s a delicious way to add our already-delicious bacon into even more recipes. With bold, smoky flavour and naturally sweet maple syrup, the possibilities are endless. Enjoy it as a snack on its own, or add it to salads, popcorn, waffles, ice cream, and so much more.
5 slices Schneiders® Butcher Cut Double Smoked Bacon
2 tablespoons maple syrup
¼ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon fresh thyme
Freshly cracked pepper
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Lay the bacon on the parchment paper and brush with maple syrup.
Sprinkle the brown sugar over the bacon and lay another sheet of parchment paper on top. Place a baking sheet on top to weigh everything down and place in the oven.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Remove bacon from in between the sheet pans and place on a wire rack.
Bake for another 10 to 15 minutes until crisp.
Finish with fresh thyme and cracked pepper.
Tips:
This is a versatile recipe that can be used to use up leftover bacon. Try mixing it in to your favourite cookie or muffin recipe as a crispy, sweet-and-salty inclusion.
