Garlicky Pretzel Dogs


Garlicky Pretzel Dogs


1 pkg Schneiders® Juicy Jumbos® Original Wieners

1 lb Pre-made pizza dough

¼ cup Unsalted butter

Coarse sea salt

1 tbsp Sesame seeds

1 clove Garlic, finely grated

2/3 cup Baking soda

10 cups (2.5 L) Water

Pre heat oven to 425ºF.

In a small pot gently bring the garlic and butter to a boil, reserve.

Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper and brush lightly with vegetable oil and set aside.

In a large pot bring water to a boil. Add in baking soda.

On a lightly floured work surface cut pizza dough into 6 equal pieces.

Roll out each piece of dough into a rope that’s approximately 24 inches long. Starting at one end, wrap the dough around each Schneiders® hot dog. Make sure to pinch dough at both ends to form a seal. Place onto one of the pans and repeat with remaining dough and hot dogs.

Place the wrapped hot dogs, 2 at a time, into boiling water for 30 seconds. Remove them and place them on the second tray.

Brush the hot dogs with garlic butter, sprinkle with coarse salt and sesame seeds.

Place in the oven on the middle rack and bake for 10 to 15 minutes until golden.

Let sit for 5 minutes before serving.

These make a great hors d’oeuvres. Use a serrated knife and cut each hot dog into 4 or 5 pieces. Serve with your favourite gourmet mustard.
