Maple Bacon Bourbon Old Fashioned

Maple Bacon Bourbon Old Fashioned

First, we infused smooth Bourbon with our sweet and smoky Country Maple Bacon. Then, we stirred in bitters and a dash of maple syrup for extra richness. We finished it off with a twist of orange zest and a morsel of crisp, candied bacon for the ultimate garnish. This new twist on a cocktail favourite is worth raising a glass to!


This cocktail is best made with our bacon-infused Bourbon. For the ideal taste, we recommend crafting the infused Bourbon 6 hours in advance of preparing your Maple Bacon Old Fashioned. Cheers!

For infused Bourbon:
1 750 ml bottle of Bourbon

1.5 oz Schneiders® Country Maple Bacon fat, rendered


For cocktail:

2 oz Schneiders® Country Maple Bacon infused Bourbon

¼ oz maple syrup

2 dashes Angostura bitters

1 piece of orange peel

½ piece Schneiders® Caramelized Maple Bacon (see recipe)

For infused Bourbon:

Trim 1.5 oz of fat from Schneiders® Country Maple Bacon.

In a small pot, warm the bacon fat until it is liquid.

Pour Bourbon into a suitably sized glass or container, then add the bacon fat and whisk for a few seconds.

Leave at room temperature for 4 hours to allow flavours to blend.

After 4 hours, place container in the freezer for 2 hours. While in the freezer, the Bourbon will stay liquid, and the bacon fat will solidify on top of the Bourbon.

Skim off the hardened fat with a spoon, and strain bourbon through cheesecloth or a fine sieve.

Bacon-infused Bourbon is ready to use.


For cocktail:

Add the infused Bourbon, maple syrup, and bitters to a glass and stir with ice for 30 seconds until chilled.

Strain into an Old Fashioned glass with fresh ice (preferably a chunk of block ice).

Garnish with a twist of orange peel and candied bacon.
