Reuben-Style Juicy Jumbos
1 pkg Hot dog buns
¼ cup Good quality mayonnaise
2 tbsp Ketchup
2 tbsp Sweet pickle relish
¼ tsp Onion powder
¼ tsp Garlic powder
½ tsp Worchestershire sauce
1 tbsp (15 mL) Fresh lemon juice
Freshly ground pepper
1 tbsp (15 mL) Vegetable oil
1 cup Onion, diced
½ cup Sauerkraut
½ cup Dill pickle, julienned
½ cup Swiss cheese, grated
In a small saucepan over medium heat add the vegetable oil and onions and cook, stirring frequently until lightly caramelized, about 8 minutes. Reserve.
Combine mayo, ketchup, relish, onion and garlic powders, Worcestershire and lemon juice in a small bowl. Stir until combined, season with pepper and reserve.
Grill Juicy Jumbos® to package instructions.
To assemble; place hotdog in bun, drizzle with dressing, add caramelized onions, then cheese, kraut, and top with pickles.
Notes:
For a twist, place the Juicy Jumbos® with caramelized onions and cheese under the broiler for a minute to melt the cheese. Then top with the remaining garnishes.
Pairs well with a cold German lager.
